Lake Nona is a 17-square-mile master-planned community in Orlando, Florida recognized as a model for “How to build a great American City”. Lake Nona is a highly successful airport edge city. Together with MCO, the community constitutes the multimodal, multifunctional commercial, infrastructure, and institutional core of the Orlando Aerotropolis.


Technology

Called the ‘Silicon Valley of the East’, Lake Nona actively recruits businesses that work to uplift other businesses—from the Verizon 5G Innovation Hub and a sports health accelerator program to various workspaces, Class A office buildings, and wired gigabit connectivity. In 2020, Lake Nona and leAD Sports partnered to launch the leAD Lake Nona Sports & Health Tech Accelerator program, exploring 5G-powered solutions in sports and health tech. The accelerator is a joint partnership with leAD Sports, the premier sports venture ecosystem inspired by Adidas Founder Adi Dassler. Lake Nona is building a mobility network to integrate multi-modal transportation options that support pedestrians and cyclists, electric-assist personal vehicles, the country’s largest and longest-running autonomous vehicle fleet (known as Move Nona), and city-to-city flight.


Sports and Human Performance

Lake Nona’s sports and human performance resources include a championship golf course, the 98-court U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus, KPMG Lakehouse national training center, and Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute. Lake Nona is a frequent destination for large-scale amateur and professional athletic tournaments. Lake Nona has hosted the LPGA Gainbridge Tournament and LPGA Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division I Championships at the USTA National Campus, and a USA Volleyball exhibition at Boxi Park. In 2021, Lake Nona opened one of the most comprehensive and advanced fitness centers in the country – the Lake Nona Performance Club. The facility redefines the fitness center experience with first-of-their-kind amenities and partnerships including the first-ever Chopra Mind-Body Zone and Spa built in collaboration with Lake Nona’s long-time wellbeing ambassador Dr. Deepak Chopra, mindset and peak performance experiences from Limitless Minds (co-founded by NFL quarterback Russell Wilson), and a premier indoor golf training and performance lab by InClubGolf. Health Care

Global Wellness Institute named Lake Nona as “the most sophisticated example in the world of what master planning for wellness can accomplish”. Lake Nona is a model for deliberate wellbeing planning activated by a globally-recognized hub for health and life sciences innovation. Health and well-being by design with positive health intentions are essential to Lake Nona’s master plan. Neighborhoods are designed to support and encourage an active lifestyle with more than 40 miles of trails, parks, and nearly 1,000 community events each year from yoga in the park to large-scale 5K runs. Every year, the community hosts the Lake Nona Impact Forum conference that draws business, government, academic, and industry leaders from across the globe to discuss innovative health and wellbeing solutions. In 2022, Lake Nona opened a 50,000-square-foot Sculpture Garden featuring a distinguished selection of sculptures from one of the world’s largest private art collections, The Lewis Collection. The garden canopy is defined by nearly 300 hand-selected palm trees chosen for their unique features and arranged in waves of foliage as a nod to the curves of the adjacent Lake Nona Wave Hotel.


Entertainment

Lake Nona’s hub of activity is the 100-acre, open-air Town Center. The urban district and regional entertainment destination feature a wide variety of shops, restaurants, business headquarters, hotels, and interactive artwork all interconnected with green spaces and walkable vistas. Boxi Park, Central Florida’s only open-air park built using repurposed shipping containers that house different restaurant and bar concepts, also provides various forms of entertainment. In 2021, the high-tech Lake Nona Wave Hotel opened in Lake Nona Town Center. It’s been called, “America’s greatest new confluence of art and technology”. Each of the 234 rooms — including the 16 one-bedroom suites and two penthouses — runs on a digital concierge. In-room voice commands control the smart lighting and temperature controls and View Smart Windows dynamically blocks 99% of UV light throughout the day resulting in an extra 16 minutes of sleep each night. As a whole, the upscale lifestyle hotel features an artwork collection of more than 300 pieces; two restaurants – Bacán and Haven – and a Living Room Bar, a swimming pool, and a Technogym-powered fitness studio.
